Diet of children living in the Arctic to be revised

This announcement was made by Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing Director Anna Popova at the International Arctic Forum, TASS news agency reports.

“The diet (nutrition) for children of the Arctic needs to be revised because the previous version was issued in 1986. A new document needs to be prepared today based on new health data and new data about food and additive opportunities. We have already begun working on this”, she said.

Popova also pointed out a link between climate change in the Arctic and the emergence of new infectious diseases.
In addition, she stressed the importance of further studying and solving problems related to the transboundary transfer of toxic pollutants and infectious diseases through water, animals and birds.
