Environmental projects carried out by Russia in the Arctic will help restore the area to its pristine condition, Minister of Natural Resources Sergei Donskoy said on Saturday during a working trip to Murmansk.

RUB 1.69 billion have been earmarked for elimination of accumulated damage to the Arctic Area as part of the “Clean Country” national priority project.

40,000 tons of waste was treated and 200 hectares of land restored in the Arctic Area between 2012 and 2015.
