International Arctic Forum to Discuss Opportunities for Personal Development in the North

The “Bringing Together Young People in the Arctic: Opportunities for Personal Development and Career Growth” panel discussion will take place on 8 April 2019 in St. Petersburg as part of the ‘Arctic: Territory of Dialogue’ 5th International Arctic Forum.

Session speakers will include Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) Deputy Director Andrey Platonov; Nenets Autonomous Okrug Department of Education, Culture, and Sports Deputy Director Anton Pustovalov; St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology Director Vladimir Khavinson; Nadezhnaya Smena Charity Foundation Director Artem Korolev; Architecture and Design Foundation President Ivan Moskvin; and Polar Convoy St. Petersburg Regional Public Organization Development Director Yelena Platonova. The session will be moderated by Terra Scientia National Educational Youth Forum Programme Director Matvey Navdayev.

Participants will include young scientists, entrepreneurs and specialists, secondary and tertiary students, and leaders and representatives of public organizations.

Speakers and participants will discuss career opportunities for young people in the Arctic, the creation of new innovative projects, and different opportunities for personal development. The event looks to be an important step in creating the youth personnel necessary for the implementation of strategic Russian projects in the Arctic.

“It is impossible to develop the Arctic region without implementing innovative projects with the participation of young people. Working in the harsh conditions of the Arctic is extremely difficult. It requires unique technological projects and the participation of professionals. To provide the northern region with capable young employees, it is important to determine the life strategies and priorities of today's youth in the Arctic and to create conditions suitable for their professional and social growth”, Platonov said.

Networking, panel discussions, plenary sessions, creative meetings, mentoring lounges, practical tracks, and individual consultations will all be held for participants as part of Youth Day.

Youth Day is a major event acquainting young people with issues of development and support of the Arctic region and the resolution of emerging problems.

It is a key platform for dialogue between foreign partners, youth, government officials, the state, and public organizations.

It is being organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs and the Russian Youth Business Assistance Center.
