German scientists preparing to spend year drifting in Arctic

An international group of scientists on the German research vessel Polarstern will carry out an expedition in the Arctic along the same path traversed by famous Norwegian polar explorer Fridtjof Nansen in the late nineteenth century, BBC News reports. The expedition is being organized with support from Russia, the UK, the United States and China and will cost more than USD 65 million. The scientists aim to study climate change in the Arctic region.
