Russia plans to increase cargo flow via Northern Sea Route to 40 mln tonnes by 2022

This announcement was made by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin during an interview with the Rossiya-24 television channel.

“Taking into account the volume of hydrocarbons produced in all our oil and gas projects, we expect to be transporting 40 million tonnes of cargo via the Northern Sea Route by 2022”, he said.

Rogozin noted that shipment volumes via the Northern Sea Route have increased dramatically in recent years – from 4 million tonnes in 2014 to 7.5 million tonnes in 2016.
