Participants in Teriberka Festival Business Programme to Discuss Development of Arctic Tourism

Participants in the business programme of the 8th Teriberka Arctic Festival, which will take place on 15–16 July in the Murmansk Region, will discuss the development of the tourism industry in the Far North. The Festival is part of the plan of events of Russia’s chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021–2023, which are managed by the Roscongress Foundation.

The Dialogues discussion platform includes three sessions that will be held in Murmansk on the opening day of the festival, 14 July. The discussions will be devoted to the creation of tourist routes, the development of common tools to modernize the tourism sector, and the role of municipalities in developing tourism in Russia.

The participants in the session ‘National Routes of the Arctic: A Driver of Development and Interregional Cooperation’ will discuss prospects for creating a national route in the Far North, as well as plans for cooperation between Russia’s Arctic regions in the development of interregional routes.

During the ‘Practices in the Arctic’ discussion, experts will look at the best practices for developing tourism in the regions, support measures for businesses in this regard, opportunities to synchronize the strategies of the federal executive authorities, the development of infrastructure and logistics in the Arctic, and prospects for initiating interregional flights and cruises.

The session ‘The Role of Municipalities’ will primarily aim to resolve issues concerning the positioning the Russia’s Arctic regions, interregional cooperation, and the role of municipalities in the development of tourism.

The business programme will be attended by representatives of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic, other federal authorities, relevant organizations and agencies, as well as the tourism business.

The Teriberka Festival aims to unleash the tourism potential of small regions of Russia’s Arctic zone, develop event tourism in the Arctic, and promote local products and cuisine. In 2023, it was included in the Top 50 National Calendar of Events for the second time in a row, and it was also ranked as one of the best fairs in the Russian Trade 2023 competition, which is held by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The Teriberka Festival is being organized by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic and the Murmansk Region Tourism Committee with the assistance of the Kola District Administration, Murmancongress, Tourist Information Centre of the Murmansk Region, and the federal project Gastronomic Map of Russia.
