Roscongress Foundation Holds Online Meeting with Arctic Region Representatives

The Roscongress Foundation held a meeting with agency representatives of the Arctic Zone regions of the Russian Federation. Representatives of Arkhangelsk and Murmansk regions, Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Komi Republic, the Republic of Karelia, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and Yamalo-Nenets and Nenets autonomous areas took part in the meeting.

One of the Roscongress Foundation’s strategic objectives is increasing the economic, investment, and tourism appeal of Russian regions. Participants discussed issues such as participating in events dedicated to international and regional cooperation, ways to promote business tourism and create service infrastructure, and presenting the investment potential of regions in the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation.

The ‘Arctic: Territory of Dialogue’ International Arctic Forum will be held in Spring 2021 in St. Petersburg. According to Director of the ‘Arctic: Territory of Dialogue’ International Arctic Forum Oksana Poletimova, Russia’s Arctic regions must be presented thoughtfully even during preparations for events.

“Arctic tourism is a hot topic, capable of capturing the interest and uniting a large number of people. However, there is currently a lack of information about Arctic tourism. We would like to collaborate with regions on this topic. For example, organising a session on tourism in the Arctic. This would give regions the opportunity to tell their story and show off their strengths and most interesting projects. Presenting the Russian Arctic in this way will help make it more open, attracting those who have long since wanted to see it with their own eyes, but had no idea how to go about doing so,” said Poletimova.

One of the Roscongress Foundation’s promising initiatives is the Arctic development expert and analytical project. Plans include a comprehensive study of the Arctic territories of the eight countries in the Arctic Council with a large-scale cumulative discussion thereof at the International Arctic Forum.

The Roscongress Foundation and regional representatives from the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation have agreed to start collaborating and preparing online events.
