Novy Urengoy to Host Yamal Oil and Gas Forum

The Russian city of Novy Urengoy will host the Yamal Oil and Gas Forum on 7–8 April. The event will bring together senior executives and specialists from Russian oil and gas companies, members of the federal government, investors, technology and equipment manufacturers, and representatives of scientific and design institutes and associations.

The Forum’s main goal is to share experience in key areas concerning production and economic activities in the Arctic and discuss topical issues such as the development of the hydrocarbon resource base, a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, the impact of climate change on sites and technological processes, how to ensure industrial and environmental safety, and technical solutions for implementing projects involving hard-to-recover reserves.

The business programme includes the following three panel sessions: ‘Prospects for the Development of the Hydrocarbon Resource Base in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District’, ‘Industrial and Environmental Safety’, and ‘Domestic Equipment and Technologies for the Implementation of Oil and Gas Projects’, as well as a roundtable ‘Climate and Environmental Risks’. The main theme of the plenary session is ‘New Challenges in the Development of the Oil and Gas Industry of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District’.

The Forum will also host the 16th Interregional Specialized Exhibition ‘Gas. Oil. New Technologies for the Far North’, which will include presentations of modern technologies for the development and operation of oil and gas fields, new equipment for geology and geophysics as well as trunk pipelines, means of transportation, and resource- and energy-saving technologies for the extraction and processing of minerals.

The exhibition will provide a unique opportunity for exhibitors to showcase their achievements and present their products on the market of one of Russia’s fastest growing regions, help to strengthen business cooperation and attract investment, and promote the rapid development of the industry with the use of innovative developments.

The Yamine Children’s Support Fund will also host a charity auction and charity volleyball match as part of the Forum.

The Forum is being organized by the Government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District and the Novy Urengoy Administration.

Russia is chairing the Arctic Council in 20212023. As part of the chairmanship programme, Russia is emphasizing the importance of responsible economic cooperation, as well as maintaining a balance between economic growth in the Arctic and minimizing the negative environment impact. Russia’s chairmanship will focus on the region’s energy security, the development of innovations and a smart economy, and improving conditions for investment growth, entrepreneurship, and business financing. The Roscongress Foundation is managing the events of Russia’s chairmanship.
