The Teriberka humpback whale was one of the symbols representing Russia at the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan in 2024. The exhibition was organized as a follow-up to the BRICS National Brands exhibition, which was held during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2024. Now the whale is returning to its native habitat in the Murmansk Region, where a new home awaits it at the Murmansk Regional Museum of Local Lore.
The Murmansk Region, specifically Teriberka Bay and Ura Bay in the Barents Sea, is one of the few places in Russia where you can view humpback whales up close. The humpback whale got its name from the special shape of its upper fin and its habit of strongly arching its back when breaching. This ancient giant is capable of performing amazing acrobatic miracles.Roll up
