One of the largest skiing events in Russia is the Murmansk Marathon, which has been held since 1974. This year, the 51st edition of the marathon will take place in Dolina Uyuta and will be part of the Russialoppet Ski Marathon Cup.
The marathon will feature races of 25 km and 50 km in both freestyle and classic techniques. A children’s ski marathon will also be held, with young athletes born between 2016 and 2020 taking part.
Last year, the marathon attracted around 3,000 participants from 69 regions of Russia and from abroad, including Germany, Slovakia, Australia, Georgia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.

The development of tourism in the Arctic zone will be discussed at the Forum. The creation of modern ski infrastructure in various parts of the Murmansk Region has contributed to enhancing its tourist appeal. Forum guests will have the opportunity to experience this firsthand by skiing on the slopes.
For example, just 15 minutes from the centre of Murmansk is the Nord Star ski resort, which offers several slopes ranging from 750 to 1,000 metres in length, with an elevation difference of 120 metres.
